Wicked Coffee Devil's Delight
Devil’s Delight is the double dark roast offering from Wicked Coffee and never has a coffee been so aptly named.
Almost hidden by the darkness of the roast, the nose was a surprising find. As with most dark roasts, especially double dark, these coffees seem to be afflicted by a charring that destroys the more subtle notes. Devil’s Delight had a surprising caramel and cinnamon nose that was only available after repetitive slurping and really getting my face into the cup. It plays well into the overall composition of the cup, but aside from the nose, you can’t find those flavor notes elsewhere in the coffee.
Everything from that point forward is what you’ve come to expect from a dark roast: bold flavor, sturdy body, and a buttery mouth feel that coated but did not linger. As someone who drinks coffee all day every day, I appreciate one that doesn't hold your tongue hostage waiting for a breath mint to satiate.
All in all, I liked this coffee. It was simple, strong, and slightly deceptive. Hence it’s suitable name.
