There seems to be a great amount of G9 grinders available. How are they? Anyone used one? I think I can get one for about $80 in good working condition so I figured it couldn't hurt to look into it.

Dude, look into it some more. That may turn you a pretty penny on Craigs list or Ebay if you don't like it. That is not a home model, they run for around $900, yes 900 brand new.

It looked commercial. I worked in a restaurant with a different made one but similar. It was pretty loud. I don't know if you would want it in your home.

Thanks guys. After downloading the spec sheet and finding it weighs about 60lbs, I will have to wait till I have more space to get something that big. It is also hard to adjust how much you are going to grind on the fly. Looks like a smaller machine is in order for me lol.

You are right homeslice. I am thinking that I may save a bit and pick up a refurbished maestro or virtuoso.

Grinders like the G9 are meant for commercial use. They are fairly large and have some weight to them, but more people are scouting them out for home use because of the superb build/grind quality. In a commercial setting I use an LPG from BUNN and I believe most BUNNs use the same internal parts such as burrs, motors, etc. All I can say is the thing grinds with excellent precision and does so rapidly. The only downfall of buying one would be having to replace the burrs. At approximately $200 a set they aren't cheap, but will grind thousands of pounds before truly wearing out.

Thanks Spyder! Good info. I still have not got a new grinder. All of my money has gone to the kids, wife, and Jeep parts lol. Soon though!
