Default Dark vs. Light Roast

Which do you prefer? I am a light roast lover myself.

Medium range for me as well. Too dark and you lose the flavor the coffee has to offer. Too light and you tend to get more acidity/brightness than I like.

Funniest thing I hear all to often is "give me the darkest, strongest brew you have"... should see the look on their faces when I tell them that is ass backwards.

People think dark means concentrated, therefore stronger.

Austin - I agree. I do mostly medium (City to Full City) never more.

It is like the time I went to a high end steak house in Calgary (cow country.)
I asked for my steak well done. They refused and said they didn't do past medium well. I tried medium and have never gone back.

I prefer Full City to Full City+. I like my beans with just a touch of oil on the outside.

Yup I can see that. My decafs tend to end up with oil on them but that is common on decafs

I used to cook, I would cringe when someone was ordering well with good meat. I ask the quality of meat when I sit down, before I order, and if it's not Prime, I won't eat it, and if it is, I go rare. Very rare.

I like a little blood on my plate, but I can't go much more than that in either direction. Well done steak is bad. Now with brisket, I will ask for an end cut. That is the tastiest chunk of the brisket, but it's well done for sure.

Austin

Like when I was in France and they made me a "blue" steak. This meant they put in on a hot surface where it was seared, waited a few seconds and then flipped it.

The centre was raw.

I am not that far. I like medium unless it is an exceptional cut of meat.
