Default Artisan software

Artisan is free software that helps coffee roasters record, analyze, and control roast profiles. When used in conjunction with a thermocouple data logger or a proportional–integral–derivative controller (PID controller), this software can automate the creation of roasting metrics to help make decisions that influence the final coffee flavor.

I have been writing the documentation for the package. A roaster from Sweden told me about the software. I found the program excellent but lacked documentation so I volunteered to write it. You can learn about the package at:

Artisan Documentation | Visual scope for coffee roasters

Thanks for the recommendation, have you used other software?

I tried some then wrote my own when I didn't find what I wanted. This program did everything I wanted and then some.

It is still young as it only came out in Dec 2010 but growing nicely

This is very cool software. I do have a question though. I'm currently using a wireless BBQ digital temperature probe. I use a BBQ drum for roasting. I could simple replace that thermometer with a K type thermocouple/data logger setup, right? Then I'd be able to use this software for tracking my roasts.

As long as the data logger is supported it will work. I use an Omega HH506RA with 2 K type probes. Omega has later units available. I also wrote about my experience with the HH506RA on my site. On the bottom of the installation page are links to my site with notes on the HH506RA. I wrote docs on that logger on my site as I found the provided docs so lacking

Details on which loggers and PIDS are supported can be found at
Installation | Artisan Documentation
