Default Behmor Drum Roaster

Anyone use a Behmor Drum Roaster? I have one but haven't really learned the potential of the machine. I always use the same setting regardless of the beans I have as I really just don't know which setting to use for specific beans. I find the literature a little lacking. That said, I have had a really good roast every time. Don't know if it was the correct roast but someday I will learn. Thought I'd ask for some tips or advice here.

How about some pics of that roaster. I've considered buying one but the price is prohibitive, for me!

If I recall the roast capacity is 1#, that's pretty decent for a home roaster.

I would say anything to far under pound would have you roasting a couple of time a week. Am I right?

I've seen the production pics, I'd like some in use pics. I ran a small roasting business with my Alpenroast but producing a 4# order took all dau, especially if the client wanted it ground.

I need a roaster that will hold up under limited production roast schedules.

This would be my first choice....The Hot Top Programmable Roaster but $930.00

The Control Panel

I've used a Behmor for about two years now. I'd never go back to anything else. Sure it doens't have the fine control of the Gene, but it costs a whole lot less. There is a program on the net called the Behmor Thing, just google it, that allows you to see what adding time does to your roast. You can change several differen variables and see what it does to the roast curve. It's a handy tool.

What about roasting in a small stainless drum on a BBQ? Seems like it would be fairly easy to control the temp, and rotate the drum with a rotisserie. Thoughts?

Just about sold on the Behmor, hell I could buy 4 of them for what one Hot Top would cost!
