A think more than a few cattle drives ended in Virginia. Cowboys brought it with them?

Cowboy coffee here in Missouri. Never heard of hobo coffee. Around here though, cowboy coffee often had other things added to give it flavor when they were short on grounds.

I love cowboy coffee... Nothing like a nice thick cup on a cold morning.

Default Yes!

I drink nothing but Hobo coffee myself these days. I always prefered that term, though I've heard the other. Maybe it's a rural vs. urban thing. In the cities it's the hobos and in the country it's the cowboys!
Here I am looking for good advice on improving my hobo coffee flavor. I usually put a mug's worth of water, put in the grounds, then turn it off when it hits a boil and let it sit 5 minutes. It never seems strong enough unless I over cook it, then it seems burnt. This is probably inevitable, but any ideas?

You could always add more grounds, or do like the Turkish where you triple boil.

the only way my family has ever made coffee is the hobo way ..
put a pot of water on put the grounds ( only use the best " Butternut " brand ) IN the water , bring the water to a boil
( careful or it will boil over ) boil for a min , turn off let it set for 3 or 4 min .
Now have a good cup of coffee ....
Mom Weaned me on coffee , I started drinking black coffee made this way .
if I don't get 2 pots of coffee every day ,,, when I set down I go to sleep with
in 2 min ..
Here's an "Urban Dictionary" where you can look up words and phrases.......check this for "Hobo Coffee".....if you want to read
some wierd definitions, just click "dictionary" in the heading and
click on a letter of the alphabet and read defs. for some of the
words listed there.....

And, don't miss checking the definition for your "Name" in this name
dictionary, which came from above link........
