Well I have some powdered salt at home. I'll make the wife try it first. If she says it's good I'll give it a try. She's been my guinea pig on all my coffee adventures.

Never heard of it before. In addition to reducing the acidity does not give you a salty flavor to your brew?

I'd suggest just giving it a try. Everyone's tastes are different, what one person finds salty another may not. Start with just a pinch and then you can go more or less to whatever suits you, or if it doesn't - at least now you know.

Your right, at absolute worst I drink one batch of overly salty coffee. No harm no foul. My Dr told me to stop drinking coffee due to high blood pressure. I wonder what he's going to say when I tell him I started adding salt.

I'm not a doctor, but there are definitely many things the average person can cut out of their diet to have a benefit on blood pressure.

I had bariatric surgery about a month and 1/2 ago. Prior to the surgery I quit eating processed foods completely. I quit eating meat (except for some occasional fish). I quit adding salt to my food and use salt free seasonings. I quit drinking all carbonated beverages. I gave up M&Ms and Reeses cups. I have had no fast food, no junk. Everything I'm eating is natural, organic, whole grain type stuff. And it's delicious.
My blood pressure has dropped by about 15% from low side of high to being in a normal range. I'm also about 1/4 of the way to losing about 250 pounds - which I will lose eventually.

But - I am still drinking coffee and I am still having the occasional cigar. Both of these are said to be related to high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, etc. I figure my healthy other habits (also beginning to include exercise), more than make up for these vices. Know what I mean? It's all give and take. If I decide to have a cup of coffee and throw a bit of salt in it because I want to, I'm going to. Occasionally doing that, occasionally having a stogie isn't going to kill me. If I can't live as I please (within reason, of course), then my life isn't worth living, IMO.

Enjoy your life. It's the only one you've got.

In my experience with the salt, you cannot taste it. Really, just a pinch is all you need for the bitterness cutting qualities.

If it helps you gauge any, I am a person that never touches the salt shaker except for coffee and fried eggs. (and cooking, but you get the idea). I can't remember when I've ever salted something on my dinner plate. I'm not a big salt person, but I definitely miss it when I don't put it on my coffee grounds.

I don't taste the salt at all - the coffee doesn't taste salty to me in the least - just "better".

I was going to try it, but the wife stayed out late with friends so I had to stop off and buy.

On the BP note. I'm young, my high BP is genetic and weight related. I lost the weight a long time ago but I recently gained a little back. Otherwise not really an issue. My doc said lose weight or quit coffee and cigarettes. I lost the weight and quit smoking. Never had an issue with salt. Just never use it. Only when I'm cooking.
