Default Starbucks..when is enough?

I live in the suburbs of Portland, but I have season tickets to the Seahawks up in Seattle. So, I spend quite a bit of time up there in the fall and winter. Let me tell you...It is insane how many shops Starbucks has up there. Literally (not even kidding) I counted 12 shops in 2square blocks. I've even seen coffee stands (think hot dog stands) in muliple surrounding areas. How have they not watered down their own product by now? Is it possible to consume your own share? I live in a town called Wilsonville near Portland...we have three damn Starbucks and one lil local shop. dumb, dumb, dumb

I ordered a small (whatever they call that) decaf and it was almost $2....that just seems to be wrong. Like they are taking advantage of us with a 5,326% mark up. I refuse to pay that unless its for local shop who really appreciates my business. Go local!

Yeah, SBucks is over priced. My wife is a java junky. Luckily her sister works at one and kicks down beans.

It drives me insane that there is no competition because of them in my area. I can stand in one location and see four different Starbucks and no local or other brands. I have been in areas that have competing stores such as Tully's and such. It just amazes me that they don't at least hold a larger share of the total market. I have to agree that local is best but any variety would do me good.

I quit going to charbucks. Overpriced , their espresso is thin and watery with a burnt taste to it. They lost their way sometime since 1998 when they still made a decent espresso.

I worked three feet from a starbucks for 4 years in a grocery store bank.

I can't take the beeping anymore. when timers go off for coffee, they just let them beep for minutes on end.

CANT TAKE THE BEEPING!@>!>>

Also, yes there are entirely too many starbucks in this town.

Nobody who lives in seattle proper buys starbucks coffee. There are so many local alternatives that do fairtrade, shade grown, organic, etc coffees to pass up.

Finally, we're all too pissed off at howard schulz for selling the sonics.

In my small town there are A LOT of private coffee shops due to the college. Starbucks is pretty inline with what they charge and honestly Starbucks has consistent coffee. I seldom buy coffee at shops but when I do I usually go local but it's hit or miss on the barista you get and quality of the shots.
