Default How should I order my coffee?

Perhaps I'm in the minority here, but I really have a hard time subscribing to the whole Starbucks culture and lingo.

I like Starbucks coffee and have it on occasion, and actually get a good deal of enjoyment from walking up and ordering a "medium coffee with cream". 95% of the time, they will correct my order with the Starbucks lingo, whatever it is (Grande drip something something?) while looking down their nose at me.

What gives? Are Starbucks employees trained to do that? The first few times I just shrugged it off, like the employees were just caught up in the whole thing themselves... but it happens most of the time!

I steer clear of starbucks just because I have no idea how to order. I was in an airport and ordered a "Medium Coffee" and I got the look of death from the girl behind the counter. Followed by 100 questions about what coffee. I just can't understand the need to snob it up.

I feel the same way at Starbucks. Order a Tall coffee and they give you the smallest cup in the house.

Now I just point to a cup and say "Dark Please"

I don't think you are in the minority. To answer your question of how to order your coffee, order it like a normal person from a more traditional coffee shop, and follow it with a tip (please) if the service was good.

I've never had issues. I order a medium soy latte, and that's what I get. They often repeat it back in SB lingo, but I ignore it get my coffee and go. I think they are trained to repeat it back like SB wants it to be said.

I'll order Charbucks if that's all that's available but I don't frequent the place.

I don't even know what a latte is. I always thought it was coffee with lots of cream and sugar

I hate the Starbucks lingo. I really just hate the use of Italian for the sizes. If they were an Italian Cafe it might be one thing but weren't they founded in Seattle?
