Default Chocolate Covered Beans?

I'm new, sorry if this is not the place to put this, but I wanted to make a big bunch of chocolate covered espresso beans and had a few questions.

1. Are they the same beans you buy over the counter?
2. If not what are they and where can I find them?
3.Has anyone here ever attempted it, and do you have any pointers?

Thanks to anyone that can help!

Jane

I've never done it, but I have eaten lots of them. Welcome to CoffeeForum! I'm sure someone on here has done it at some point or another. I tried to look it up on youtube, but nothing.

Chocolate Covered Coffee Beans

Based on this site it looks like just putting melted coffee on roasted beans. I know when we were studying roasting we would often eat a bean just out of the roaster to see how was the roast.

Those things are great. I have a friend that brought back some Kona beans covered in chocolate from Hawaii. Best beans I ever had.

Man, I guess I'm headed out later for some chocolate covered coffee beans. Anyone have a place they prefer?

The only place I know that usually carries them is Starbatches, but they seem to be seasonal.

On a side note, while on a very quiet, rainy night, working on patrol, my supervisor bought 2 pounds of those chocolate covered beans from a local Starbatch, and handed them out to everyone. In just two hours, our dispatcher got exhausted from all the activity in a time where one would usually only hear crickets. We were all zinging badly from the caffeine!

Trader Joes has them, and they are a great snack. However, moderation in the evening is advised if you want to sleep....
