Nope, not at all. Just make sure it's just a sponge. Some sponges has a plastic like scouring surface on one side and you can't microwave those. One a side note, we once did an oncology clinical trial where the patients were immuno-compromised, meaning that their immune system was pretty much wiped out to try to kill the cancer cells as well. Well the patients were fed a fried diet. Why you might ask? Because hot oil kills EVERYTHING.

I did it and the microwave had smell for a minute but it went away. People kept staring at me. It was pretty funny. They think I'm nuts. How did the trial turn out? Do you have a link to the study?

They ended up killing the trial, because the patients liver function tests (LFT's) were very high. These were end stage cancers, so I didn't really understand what the big deal was. These were patients who had been through ever other treatment on the market and were now on to experimental treatments, so their blood chemistry was probably crap already. They were going to get experts together and try to come up with a solution to the liver enzyme problem. Not sure what ever happened with the compound, since I left that company back in '02.

That's terrible they stopped the trial. Seems like if you can find out something doesn't work it puts you one step closer to one that does.
