My fav basic unit it the glass with the plunger. Easy to use and nice results. Bodum makes one but it is not very durable and not cheap. For most of my froth I use a hand blender.
That's the kind I had, the glass with a plunger... I just like the addition of frothed milk to my morning cup every now and then. Where did you get yours?

I have a few of that style. I bought then in Canada at Kitchen Stuff Plus. I actually give them along with a small French Press for presents last Christmas.

I also have a Froth Au Lait® Automatic Hot Milk Frother. It does wonderful froth but is work to clean.

I would imagine, how long does it take the milk to get ready?

It runs for about 2 minutes. You put in cold milk and it heats as well as whips

It's still electric but how about a hand blander? they're pretty versatile and can fit into lots of smaller spaces.

I own a couple. When I moved into my first Apartment all I got was hand blenders and crock pots. No kidding. At one point I had five crock pots. Next time I'm at my storage shed, I'm going to look for the smaller one, I think I gave it away, not sure though.

That's so handy. I normally just pop mine in the microwave then froth it by hand, but this would eliminate most of the work. How much do they go for?

Electric Automatic Milk Frothers at the Green Beanery

I live in Canada so I used this source but you can see the lineup and look more local. The Cdn dollar is similar to the US dollar. The challenge is it takes time to clean it. I went back to the micro and a hand blender as it is the least work overall.
