Yes, I understand and agree with you guys. KL (Kopi Luwak) is a controversial, tricky, fragile and risky business. Many of KL sellers in US or Europe buy KL from reliable source. If you want to buy KL, ask the supplier(s) to provide you with some valid pics/videos. There hundreds of KL suppliers in Indonesia, but I guess there are only less than 10 honest suppliers. In my humble opinion, we also have to educate the buyers. Not all KL have the same taste. Each is unique, depends on the green beans. I think the reasonable market price for this rare, luxury gourmet coffee, is around $400 - $450 per kg or $60-$70 per 3.5 oz (roasted). So, think twice if someone offer you a ridiculously cheap or expensive price.

I recently read an article saying that they have replicated the enzyme present in the civets guts so digestion is no longer necessary.
Kopi Luwak - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
How do you feel about this development and are you willing to convert if it means a more US friendly product? As a rule we don't eat or enjoy things that come out of butts.

I don't want to convert it, and I guess the replica enzyme won't work. I've sold hundreds of kg Kopi Luwak to Europe and my buyers, they are professional roasters. So, regardless the controversy, the scam or the hype whatsoever about it, I think Kopi Luwak will always be the most exotic coffee. Well, honestly my all time fave coffee are Sumatra Mandheling, Toraja Sapan Minanga, and Columbia Supremo

I said typically, I'm struggling to find another product that fits that description though.

I have a thing for Kona, I understand not wanting to convert, I'm a fan of tradition when it makes sense. I just think Americans would be more receptive to a change, at least they would be in larger volumes.
