Ew,my travel mug has a nasty aftertaste!Plz help!
Its stainless steel with a plastic inside wall.Heres what started it.I poured some hot water & orange soap in it lastnight.Forgot about it & fell asleep.Wokeup, spent 5 mins washing it out with water hot enough to scold the hands.Thought my mug was fine. But halfway down,I almost puked .I can taste the soap relly bad after I swallow the coffee.I got some vinegar & salt, swished it around for 10 mins.Washed out with hot water again for 8 mins this time.Same thing is happening. Can someone help me find a way to get this mug back to normal?lol.I don't want to toss it,costs me $15 & had it a long time(2+yrs).I didn't mean to let it soak overnight,is this mug screwed?I am going to go buy some fresh white vinegar, baking soda,& lemon juice tonight. My dad said he would give me some of his denture cleaner tabs aswell.Any tips for this type of mug?

I tried it all .I think when someone was washing the dishes, maybe soap seaped in the the cracks where the plastic and stainless steel meet & it was soaked with the dishes.Idk.But im just going to have to toss it.Leave it out of my room one time & it happend.Maybe it was from me using a scrubber to get the inside clean a few times, figured since it was a non scratch it wouldn't hurt it.I thought for sure the ice, salt,& vinegar seting for 5hrs would get it.Nope.Ahwell

You could try making a paste with a little water and a lot of baking soda, then scrub it like you have never scrubbed before. I would also let it stand with some baking soda solution over night.
I hate to say it, but if that doesn't work, it's time to get a new cup.

I forgot to get some baking soda when I got the other stuff. Will get some when I can, give it a shot,& report back.I found out its a foam insulated, not a vacum insulated mug.Until I get some baking soda,im going to try and soak it in warm water.Maybe it will draw out any soap the mightve asorbed & dried in the foam isulater. Its very hard, but I can turn the bottom plastic seal of the mug.

What about using Oxyclean in a paste? I would just be sure to rinse it really, really well before using it.

I'm not sure, I don't even know what's in Oxyclean.
