Default How many drink coffee at the same time?

While perusing our local newspaper today, I came across this fun fact.

Someone asked "Mr. Know It All", by Gary Clothier:

During a coffee break, someone wondered how many people in the United States were drinking coffee at the same time we were. Is there such a stat?

He replied he found the answer in the November 2011 issue of Specialty Coffee Retailer magazine. In "Jack Groot's column, Jack's Blend," he says:

"Americans consume 400 million cups of coffee per day, making the United States the leading coffee consumer in the world. Break that down, and we drink 16.7 million cups per hour, 300,000 cups per minute or 5,000 cups every second."

Jack Groot owns JP's Coffee in Holland, Mich.

I read an interesting piece right here under the Articles tab at the top of this page. That Voltair was thought to have drunk between 50-80 cups of coffee a day! Now I'm sure that is a standard cup, but still that is just nuts!

I've often wondered who was drinking what with me. I'm an early riser so I assumed I was drinking about the same tame the East coast was.

I read that. I don't think I could be productive with that much caffeine in me.

Being Atheist myself, I've read a lot of Voltaire's writings and it definitely explains some of them! LOL

What's your favorite Voltaire?

I've been reading Candide to my four year old.

I don't think she gets it.

We do six nights of her stories, one night of mine.

We finished up Klignsor's Last Summer by Hermann Hesse the other day.

I don't know if she liked it but her mother did so that was nice.

Austin, I'm ashamed to say that I haven't read anything in it's entirety. Everything I've read of Voltaire is included in other works. The anthology of atheism for example. Richard Dawkins often quotes Voltaire. My favorite quote of his many colorful quotes.

"If god created us in his own image, we have more than reciprocated."
