This is a neat idea, but would you want hot water sitting on your grounds while drinking your coffee?? Isn't the whole idea of a Frech Press to get your coffee extracted and out of the pot after three minutes? I would think that the hot water sitting on the grounds would over-extract the coffee.

I wouldn't use it day to day, but I think a camping trip, road trip, etc would be an awesome application.

Big Mike I was also concern about the grounds just setting there, but I must tell you it does not alter the taste, and the convience of it is so amazing. Austin I don't use them every day either, but they are just so amazing. I love them.

I'm in the midst of a move, otherwise I would order them and keep them on hand.

I am on a septic disposal system and so seek to minimize entry of coffee grounds from my french press. After decanting the coffee, and removing the plunger, I add a little water to the remaining grounds. I swish it around a bit, and then poor this into a conventional paper drip filter which is supported by a conventional holder, and kept in the sink. The few grains that remain in the flask go down the drain. When the paper filter becomes full of grounds, I put this in the garbage.

I'd recommend putting the grounds in your garden. You will be surprised how well it amends your soil and is good for the environment!
