My grandparents used a percolator daily. I loved the aroma and the thick evil brew that poured forth from it. I think I'd use one now, but I would need to bargain with SWMBO over shelf and counter space.

I have an old percolator, never cared much for the coffee it made, now I pull the guts out and use it to cook asparagus while they stand up in the pot, works great! they cook fast and dont get too mushy because they are only in like an inch of water.

I use one when I go camping. I love how it tastes but I like my coffee strong. I want to get a large one to use for our club trips.

My mistake it is not 30 cups...it is 40...It does the trick...just have to make sure you got the right Grind...

That will do..very a little while...

I have to admit... when I first heard "percolator" I instantly thought about some kind of bong to smoke certain drugs out of...

I need to find out more on this...

I have a percolator for camping and it is quite nice to have a cup of joe in the morning when camping.

My wife has her grandmother's. It's a blue enamled one. We've never used it. We do like asparagus though. May have to give that a try.

Agree to the camping...

Nothing better than a cup of perk over last nights coals (after crawling out of a tent).

The other side of that is coffee thats been sitting on a perculator for 4 hours at a boring conference. Both ends of the spectrum....

Never-ever had a good experience with one of these contraptions. I've never personally used one either, but my former church used to have them every Sunday, and the coffee was less-than-stellar to say the least. Wouldn't mind finding one cheap and giving it a shot, though.

i inherited one from my mother, and she claimed they only used it to warm up water for tea. made some coffee in it and it was the worst coffee i ever drank. gave it away for free on craigslist and then read about how its the worst way to make coffee...
