Default Pause N Serve method

I was just wondering if anyone around here utilized the pause n server to make stronger fuller coffee? I am not going to say it is better than a french press or anything, but I like it some days.

Method:
Only make 1 mug at a time.
I grind my grounds fine
Add water to reservoir
Remove pot and keep out till last step
Turn on machine and let it run for 4-4.5 minutes
Turn off machine
Place pot under and watch it fill up quickly.
Drink.

I have not taken the time to try for the best times or anything but it works well for me. Since mine beeps at the end of the brew cycle (about 3 minutes), I let it steep for 1 more minute before heading to the kitchen to put the pot under.

Interesting method. Don't you have to be careful about extracting too much bitter taste from the beans?

I don't leave the water in there any longer than a french press so I guess not. I wont say it is any better than a french press or anything else, but it does taste better than normal drip to me. I also have a double insulated glass cup that I like to use. Fits perfect under there and I now just set it under when I am ready for it to drain.

I usually use this method at my father-in-laws place when we go visit him. I'll take along my grinder and beans, then use his pot. I've found that it brews to fast, so I'll pull the pot and let the hot water sit on the grinds longer. Just be careful that there isn't more water in your pot than the basket can hold, because you it will overflow the basket. I speak from experience.

I was thinking that actually. Good to have it confirmed.

You got it Mike. I normally make a cup at a time. One issue I found was if you let it brew then put the pot in, some pots can't take the flow as fast as it comes out at first so it spills a little. That is why I use the cup I am drinking out of now. I don't even put the carafe on anymore. Straight from machine to cup.
